Haig Park Markets Canberra: A Good Spot for Breakfast Wraps

The Perfect Choice for a Light Sunday Morning Start

I had to head into the City early this Sunday morning for some errands, and I was craving a breakfast that wasn't too heavy but still felt like a treat. After walking past several cafes in Braddon and heading into the beautiful greenery of Haig Park Markets, the smell of sizzling bacon caught my attention near the end of the markets. That is how I ended up stopping at 'Brekky Time'.

Customised Breakfast for Bacon Lovers: 'Brekky Time' Canberra

The best thing about this place is that you can customise everything. You can choose single or double bacon, and add extras like cheese, hash browns, or even a gluten-free bun.

  • Our Order: We both went for double bacon as a base. My husband added a hash brown, and I added cheese for a satisfying meal.
  • Menu Tip: Their signature is the buttery Brekky Brioche, but since I already had my eye on a danish for dessert, we chose the 'Wrap' style to keep things a bit lighter.

Perfect Crispy Bacon and BBQ Truffle Aioli Combination

The secret here is definitely the way they cook. It looked like the bacon was cooked on a separate pan, so it was not oily or greasy at all. I got very crispy and clean bacon without that heavy oil feeling that I usually do not like.

  • The Flavour: The soft egg and salty, crispy bacon went so well with the melted cheese. It was exactly the right amount of food—not too much, not too little.
  • The Sauce Ratio: I usually hate it when there is too much sauce because it hides the real taste of the food, but their BBQ Truffle Aioli was just right even without me asking. The paper wrap stayed dry until the very last bite, which made the whole experience very clean and enjoyable.

Must-Try Dessert: Fruit Danish from Dream Cuisine Patisserie

For dessert, we went back to the front of the market to grab a danish from 'Dream Cuisine Patisserie'. My hands were full with coffee and other things so I couldn't take photos, but there were so many delicious-looking options. If you love danishes or flaky pastries, you really have to try this place.

  • Texture and Taste: The pastry layers were so light and airy, and the crunch was amazing. The custard cream in the middle wasn't too sweet and had the perfect balance. With the fresh fruit on top popping with every bite, it was the perfect end to our meal.

  • Visitor Info: If you search on Google, it shows an address in Fyshwick, but that location is not open to public customers. You can find them on Saturdays at the Capital Region Farmers Market (CRFM), and on Sundays at both the Old Bus Depot Markets (OBDM) and Haig Park Village Markets.

From a solid breakfast wrap to a high-quality dessert, this visit to Haig Park was better than I expected. If you are looking for a quality Sunday breakfast and a relaxing vibe in Canberra, I highly recommend this combination!
