Schnitzel & Pub Meals in Adelaide: Prince Albert Hotel Full Review

Why We Chose Prince Albert Hotel Adelaide

I visited the Prince Albert Hotel in Adelaide, looking for a city pub with good reviews. The food photos looked fresh and well-presented, and the pub keeps its Facebook and Instagram updated regularly, which gave me confidence in the quality. Despite being an older pub, it feels well-maintained and reliable.

Prince Albert Hotel Adelaide: History, Location & Parking

PA Pub opened in 1952 and has served as a gathering place for political and social events. The building is listed as a State Heritage place, giving it character and charm.

The pub is slightly out of the way from Rundle Mall, about a 20-minute walk, and public transport is not very convenient. Driving is easiest. There’s street parking, but no dedicated parking lot.

PA Pub Adelaide: Atmosphere & Vibe

The pub is bright and casual, unlike traditional bars, which are often dark. On the day we visited, a local sports game was on, but the noise level was comfortable for conversation. Indoor and outdoor seating is plentiful. Better suited for casual gatherings with friends than quiet date nights.

PA Pub Schnitzel & Menu

We ordered the classic schnitzel with chips and salad.

  • Schnitzel: Golden and crispy outside, tender inside. Gravy served on the side, well-balanced, not too salty or sweet.
  • Chips: Fresh, slightly salty, and crisp, typical pub-style chips. Portion was generous.
  • Salad: Fresh, a bit soggy at the bottom due to dressing, still fine.
My husband ordered a PA Cheese Burger, which was okay — not overly salty or greasy, structure held together, easy to eat.

Prince Albert Hotel Adelaide: Price & Final Thoughts & Recommendations

We paid $73 AUD for two, including a glass of wine and a lemon lime bitters. Reasonable for Adelaide city pub standards. A clean, relaxed pub near Adelaide city with classic schnitzel. Historic building, satisfying food, and comfortable atmosphere. Not ideal for walking or public transport, but worth visiting if nearby. I would definitely revisit, especially for the schnitzel.
