According to the official website, Costco offers four types of memberships worldwide. Prices may vary slightly by country, but in Australia, the following options are available:

• Gold Star Membership ($65/year): Best for individuals or small households. Includes one free household card.

• Business Membership ($65/year): Designed for business owners. You can add up to six additional cardholders ($65 each).

• Gold Star Executive Membership ($130/year): Includes 2% annual cashback on eligible purchases.

• Business Executive Membership ($130/year): Combines Business + Executive benefits.

💡 Tip: The Executive Break-Even Point
If you spend more than $3,250 a year (about $270 a month), the 2% cashback covers the $65 price difference between Gold Star and Executive. If you spend more, Costco is practically paying you to shop!

👉 Household benefit: Each primary member can nominate one household member (living at the same address and over 18) to receive their own card at no extra cost.

Costco Guest Policy: Can I Bring Friends?

Officially, Costco members may bring up to two guests when shopping. However, guests are not allowed to pay with their own card – only the member can make purchases.

In practice, many stores are flexible with this rule, but keep in mind that membership is non-transferable and photo verification is now checked at entry.

• No Screenshots: Using a screenshot of your digital or physical card is strictly prohibited. The app must be opened live to scan.

• No Card Sharing: Membership is non-transferable. Sharing your card with others is against policy and strictly monitored at the door.

• Photo Verification: If your physical card lacks a clear photo, or if you are activating your digital card for the first time, you may be asked to show a valid government ID or visit the membership desk to update your photo.

👉 Tip: Make sure your "face" is ready and your official photo is updated before you head in to avoid being stopped at the entrance!
