Gyeongbokgung Palace: Exploring a Historic Royal Landmark Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace served as the main royal palace during the Joseon Dynasty. Though it endured destruction during the Imjin War (1592) and later during the Japanese occupation, a major restoration project has been ongoing since 1990, bringing the palace back to its former glory.
